hello, this is my first year growing [big] pumpkins and i sure have learned alot from this site.my plant has been in the earth for 30 days or so. it just quit raining the past few days here in beavercreek oregon. big betty is about 15 inches long and is headed down the hill but at a angle. my question is should i be doing anything now to her as far as pruneing or ect.???????it looks like she has flowers allready??i have a picture of her which i will post once i find out how.thanks for any help, john

start getting your wind protection up, need somthing to block out the wind from all directions untill the plant is about 5 feet long. Also, start thinking about staking your vine to add stabliity, wind is your enemy at this stage of the game. Fertilize at 1/2 the recomended rate, twice a week. Get pesticides and fungicdes ready to go.
