I have some plants ready to go into the ground. However, I have noticed some yellow spots as well as some white spots on the leaves. I have started them with micorrhiazae, watered with fish emulsion and root stimulator and they look excellent except for this. Am I in trouble?

Nah...just got verigated vegetation..should be no problem, these posts are quite common with early development...most will go away with the formation of secondaries etc...GrowEmBig! Chuck

This question comes up every year and there has never been a definitive answer to explain them. Seems they're harmless enough so roll with it...

Back off the ferts and water! Put them in the ground and let them get a run at it before trying to control her (mother nature) in such a small environment... Yellowing around the leaf edges and yellow spots on the leaves are due to excessive moisture/fert imbalance conditions combined with cold temps in the root zone! Or I could just be crazy and that would explain all my "your a crack pot" hate mail....

But Gads, the last 2 years I never fertilized my new young plants and I got 'em....this year I have fertilized already and no yellowing? (seriously)

Gad's has stated it very well. Excessive moisture is a common early season problem. Soils that are saturated quickly become anaerobic as Oxygen is displaced. Roots have trouble at this early development stage in absorbing the proper nutrient combinations. I believe it is best to let the roots find water and build young vibrant pipelines. When in doubt about watering needs of your plants try to remember this saying "When in doubt let them go down and out". They will find what they need very quickly. Treating water at this stage of development as a supplement will aid the roots growth. Careful consideration of your plants water needs will provide long term benefits.
