Novice grower in W. Ky. and I just read the new GPC rules. Do you have to register and pay a fee to GPC to enter a fruit in their weigh-off. Do you have to be a GPC member (if there is such a thing)? Is there a list of GPC weigh-off sites and dates? All info appreciated. Peace Wayne

Your local weigh-off site location pays the GPC dues upon acceptance to an agreement between the 2 parties. A pumpkin growing club can also organize a weigh-off so long as the proper coordinator positions are filled.

Most weigh-off locations (Ag Fairs mostly) charge a fee to enter.

Others might be held at Garden Centers, Department Store parking lots, etc. These commercial entities probably wouldn't charge a fee since the act of holding the weigh-off increases sales traffic which should be just compensation for the effort.

The GPC serves to establish a fair set of rules to insure continuity of results.
