I searched all over but can’t find the answer. Lots of knowledgeable people here so here goes. I have a 3000 W inverter that only gets used when we think the power is going out. If I wanted to use it every day for like a fridge and TV and maybe some small appliances, can I do this safely? Would it overheat? I may have asked this question in the past so bear with me.

Is it a gas powered generator? 3000 watts at 120 volts will give you roughly 25 amps of power at full load. We run our Honda suitcase generators when the power goes out. No problem running them non stop as long as you keep them fueled up and full of oil. PS we try to keep connected loads at 80% or less of the inverters rated capacity.

Neither a battery inverter or inverter generator would overheat or be a problem. My experience with an off grid system the inverter worked really well for years. The internal fan would go on to cool the unit. Batteries were always an issue. Solar in the winter in VT sucks for a solar system.

Thanks Gadberrys and Wilbur, more great information. I had a gas inverter that went missing when we moved, along with a Dewalt saw a d other stuff, don’t get me started. My inverter connects to 4 deep cycle batteries.

The gas inverter was way more convenient, just pull and plug in. I hope the bastard who stole it has explosive diarrhea until he sees the light.
