I am having a hard time getting Calcium, and I needed it yesterday, ya know what I mean? Help! Where can I find this stuff and get it quick? What would I use; there are so many different kinds. Chelated Calcium? Guess I need water soluble too. Thanks! Doeski

Thanks to the advice of some friendly and experienced growers, I've started using a product called Calcium 12 by Fertall. It's a liquid mixture containing 12% chelated calcium. It's fine for foliar feeding and a soil drench but I'm unsure on if it's safe to apply it directly to the pumpkin with a towel soak, etc. Someone else out there will know if it's safe for that application but I sure don't. I would be curious to know though....
I bought it from this site:

For 15 bucks, it's a bargain.

I coud find NO local sellers of C. Calcium!!! So I found a real nice company today on the Net that specializes in Chelated Calcium, Nuti-Cal. They were willing to send the Bottle today to get it out ASAP to me, trusting that I would call in later with my Credit card when I got home. The price is about the same as Brian's supplier. Just thought I should share because they were so nice. They also told me a little about the "Towel method" and said their Calcium was perfect for that. So if you need some another place to buy from! They sell it in gallon jugs in cases, they were willing to split a case up for me to send me one jug. Nice people! I think they are a small business? I just called them, the # is on the bottom of the page under pricing. Nuti-Cal 1-800-247-2480

I've been using Nutri-Cal for 2 years now, and at higher rates than recommended. It works very well with towel wraps but try not to let it get on the pumpkin skin when you do foliar sprays, it can pit the skin with recessed brown spots if it's too strong.

Kyle, at what rate are you applying it to the pumpkin with the towel? Is Nutri-Cal 8 percent calcium?
Just trying to figure out a safe rate for the Calcium 12 stuff I have. Thanks in advance for the info.

Brian, Nutri-Cal is 10% calcium, 6-0-0. When doing towel wraps, I use 4 oz/gallon. That may be overkill but I'd rather go heavy than go light since I've yet to experience skin burn with the towels. We just don't know how much is actually absorbed by the fruit.
