OK I apply my foliar stuff with a 1 gallon hand held sprayer. I know the rates and stuff...but how wet should the leaves be getting? should you apply just a fine mist, or until it's dripping off the sides of the leaves...or somewhere in between?!

For what it's worth, I apply to just before run off. And if I am applying anything other than fish/seaweed, I tap any leaves that may get pooling on their edges to prevent burning. Found that this is not as much of a problem when using a real spreader sticker.

It depends on what type of fertilizer & the rate of concentration. Low rates in high volumes that land on leaves stalks & soil are good. I'm injecting chelated calcium, potash, manganese & fish emulsion as I type this through the low volume (15 gph) emitters. This is a fairly high dose by some standards. But it ends up very diluted. So the last 10 minutes of the irrigation cycle is just plain water & the hole shooting match ends up geing more or less watered into the rootzone.
Low volume more concentrated foliar ferts are best applied like Bill says where that last heavy drip on the edge is either knocked off or avoided in the first place.
Personally I still prefer the low dose high frequency approach. It's more idiot proof & less like work.

Brigette and all, are you spraying the undersides of the leaves too? Is there any need for this? Thanks, Duff
