On the bottle of fish emusions it says to spray 1 time a week. I think thats a little long. How often does everyone else folier feed? I want to feed as much as I possibly can because I am not feeding the roots at all. At least I havent yet..Thanks

We apply a different item every day. Fish Emusion is one day. Seaweed/Fish is another. The other days are items I found we were deficient in such as Calcium, Manganese, etc.
Adjust the application accordingly.

Tremor do you cut back on the dose or put it on as recommended on the bottle? Thanks Scott

I'm planning on foliar feeding with Neptune's Harvest fish and kelp formula, and maybe molasses. Would it be best to apply this in a mixture at the same time, or a day or two apart(between the Neptune's Harvest and the molasses). Also, what benefit is the molasses to the plant as a foliar feed? I echo Gray's question, of how often should fish emulsion sprayed on for max. effectiveness? Maybe twice a week instead of one(or every other day)? Do you think foliar feeding will play a significant role in increasing fruit size? Questions, questions, questions(smile).

I should add for all interested, that in the post below this one, it looks like the person is having trouble with burning the leaves, possibly due to foliar feeding(too strong?).

Scott,
Yes. Less stuff more often is easier on the plants. Spoon feeding.

PumpkinFarm, This is my first serious year of growing A.G.s as well as my first year using molasses. I read something on the forum about it, but maybe it is more commonly used on the soil(to promote microbe activity). I may use it in manure tea, for the microbes. I hope someone more knowledgeable than me will chime in about it, in regards to if it is effective as a foliar feed, and what ratio to use(as a foliar feed and as a soil drench). I just ordered a couple of gallons that will come in on Fri., so I hope I get some input. I ordered it from a farm store. They usually sell it for $7-8 for a 5 gal. bucket. They ordered me a half bucket(~2 1/2 gallons).

Myself
my Mix twice weekly foiler is a mixture of :
Neptunes Mollases Sea weed extract 10-52-10
Neptunes calls for 2 TBS for 5 liters of water Mollases calls for 2 TBS for 5 liters of water sea weed extract calls for 2-3 TPS - 4 liters of water 10-52-10 calls for 5ML to 1 liter of water.
My mixture for a good twice a week foiler is
1/2 TPS of Neptunes, mollases, seaweed, and 1ML of 10-52-10 to 1 liter of water. all plants get a GOOD soaking top of leaves underside and the vine and soil around the plant twice a week.
since ive started this mixture the plants have darkened up allot and have been growing on average of 4-6 Inchs per day

Thanks dave for the great info!
Pumpkin Farm, I can relate to the cool weather. Maybe by the weekend, things will warm up. I'm hoping if and when we get 80-85 degree weather, the vine will really take off.

Can you tell me the exact meaning of molasses and what it is? I only knew about it from cooking so far.

Thanks Dave. Guess I should think about becoming a retailer for all that stuff you can buy over there. I´m looking for a new job anyway :)

Lisa, I've only got one A.G. this year(except for a small one that I put out to fend for itself, with no special treatment). My plant is more advanced than the ones in your diary. It has a main vine of about 1.5 ft. Good luck, Doug
