I found some calcium nitrate (15%N, 19%Ca) granules from a local hydroponic store. My last soil test in the fall put my calcium at 20 meq/100g and my nitrogen at 97.5 lbs/acre. 1)Is this a good product to mix into my soil now and what would be an application rate? 2) Is this good to use as a foliar spray for calcium? What would the rate be? 3) Can I use this as an application to my pumpkin with a soaked towel? Again, what rate?
Am I on the right track or am I way off. Thanks, Alan

What is your current Ph at. Calcium nitrate has like 4 x the ph raising properties than lime. This is what the hydroponic shops use it for. Raising PH in a solution.

It's a good thing I ask questions. My soil sample last fall was at 7.5 I've added lots of manure, leaves, compost, peat moss and other goodies. I guess I stay away from this then in my soil? What about as an application on the pumpkin itself? Alan
