Hey, I’m looking to get a submersible Pump for a 50 gallon barrel that will allow me to feed and water my plants individually until they are large enough that I will use the 250 gallon tank with my larger pump system.
What size pump do I need, that will give enough pressure to do the job?
  Thanks/Glenn

               3/4hp will do the job

I use a "Little Giant" Glenn... it works well.

I just did exactly what you want to do and I used a 1/4 hp barracuda submersible pump and it cost $44. Its strong enough to pressurize my 16x28 foot green house.

Thanks. I’ll see what I can find. I think I remember seeing a video that Ron W used one that was 1/3 HP. I tried a smaller pond pump and it didn’t have the power to spray far enough. Ned, what model do you use?

I have a 1/6 hp pump that seems to pressurize my drip tape system well. I tried it on the soaker hoses I have in my tomato beds. It worked but the flow was rather low. I got a 1/3 hp pump & it seems just right!

1/3 hp is perfect for what you need. Just replaced the one I had for the past 10 years this weekend. $130 at home depot.
