I know the ideal length to pollinate is 10-15 feet, but I'm curious to know if anyone has pollinated at any shorter distance. I ask this because I have a plant that is growing slow and starting to show male flowers. Plant is about 5 and half feet long. Thanks for any info.

The 1385 Jutras which was selfed at 9 1/2 feet grew the 1725 harp at 9 1/2 feet. In the last two years a 1751 was grown at 10 feet and a 1992 was grown at 10 1/2 feet not ideal distances but it can be done if you have in the neighborhood of 7 or 8 very healthy secondaries on each side prior to the pumpkin set you have and keep the plant healthy to the end. But I agree with most that 12-15 ft is better and around 15 feet is the sweet spot if you can get it. Several years ago I got stuck with one at 8 1/2 feet and grew one 995 without much amendments. Goodluck to you but if you can hold out for that 12-15 distance if you have the time and if your goal is super big, that would be the way to go!

I let one grow at 4 feet once.

It really doesn't work out well.
