I am thinking of using citric acid to lower the pH of my water before using it. I was wondering if it had any bad affects on the soil microbes and if its break down in the soil caused the pH to swing. Is anyone using this with success?

Strong acids like nitric acid or phosporic acid are more effective, as they work at same time to lower ph and as nutrients for the plants. Citric acid is a weak acid, you'll need a bigger amount to lower ph of you water but it's a good organic way. I will use it for the very first time this year. My water ph is around 8 so I will need 300 grams of it in 1000 lt of water
