i friend offered me some poo to freshen up the soil,,, what would the out come be if i applied it now for use in june first,,,

The fresher it is the less you should use.also water heavily before planting to get some of the nitrogen and potassium levels down.More isnt always better

pile it up and cover it with a tarp. If there isn't much bedding in it add some straw. Horse manure is the driest manure and is the quickest to turn into compost so you might want to water it esp if you add straw. If it is mostly bedding you might want add blood meal.COVER THE PILE. it will hold/keep out moisture(you want medium moisture),keep the rain and sun from leaching out the nitrogen,as well as keep a constant moisture level. Turn it with a pitchfork every week or two. It will breakdown for use this year by doing this.
