If you decide to apply calcium to our blossum end is it better to use calcium carbonate or nitrate?

Neither.
Your best bet would be a calcium that has been chealated with an amino acid, but even that will be minimally effective on the fruit itself. You need to get the calcium into the plant through the roots or foliar.

How often should nutri-cal or cal mag be used. Also, is there a particular time in the growth process to avoid using calcium? I'm a newbie and I don't want to overdue it. I'm trying to step up my game this year but I don't want to end up on injured reserve!
