it depends on patch size, soil type, etc... 623 gallons will cover 1,000 sq. ft. with 1 inch of water. that breaks down to 89 gal./day, every day, to get 1 inch on a 1,000 sq. ft. patch each week.

Don't forget to collect natural precipitation in a rain gauge & factor that into (or out of) your irrigation program.
I use a cheapo promotional rain guage in the patch & a better one just outside of it to keep tabs on both natural rainfall & the combined effect of both.

I am using 150 gallon per plant every day; plant average size are 400 sq ft. Dam hot and dry air here.

Ah it cost the prize of a beer in a bar to me, per day, so this summer I am drinking beer at home.

10% humis sandy loam here....using 110 gallons a day and more on the hotter days. One must experiment and apply to a specific patches conditonal needs deducting for nature's gifts along the way.
I try to let the patch dry off on the surface at least once a week to get control of the emerging weeds.

Drip lined 550 gallons yesterday in a 2500 sq. ft. plot with 4 plants. Drip lined 1100 gallons at the farm, 9000 sq. ft.
