I was wondering...would it be good to mix a little bit of peroxide and water and give them to my pumpkin plants (which are no bigger that 3 inches tall)...Any suggestions?

Three inches tall should soon be showing true leaf at which point they should go to the patch under cold frames. Going out this early you best be ready to provide heat on cold nights and days. If your pots are less than gallon size they may be rootbound. Gallon size will only hold your roots a day or two longer than half that size. You did not say what size pots the seed were in. Should be no need to fertilize getting to first true leaf.

Many Pennsylvania growers are planting seed in the last days of this month. Going to cold frames on or about May 8th to 10th. This schedule should finish you nicely about Sept 5th. to the 15th. Hope to see you grow a dandy in Pa. this year. See you at Altoona Oct 4th.

blocky- didn't mean to knock you... and not answer your question but the first think i thought of was that 3 inch plant at this time where you live might be to early... as far as the peroxide mixture. I think i might be a good idea to use some peroxide mixed with water for oxegenation but i'm wouldn't know what the ratio would be. There were a couple of recent threads on this issue which might help.

I believe it will. In theory it should add some extra oxygenation to your soil, which is a good thing. BUT...what ratios? I have consistently seen the recommendation, for converting 35% hydrogen peroxide to a 3% solution, 11 drops per gallon of water. What constitutes as a drop? Will a 3% solution be safe for the root zone? I have read that a 3% solution as a mist for the leaves is also used. I plan to add 35% solution to my 55 gallon watering barrels this year...probably starting *very* diluted, monitoring my plants for adverse effects, and increase if/as needed. I wouldn't attempt to feed a young plant with it, wait until it's larger and hardier. HP is an unstable, caustic agent by nature.

the page i read said WORK UP TO 2 1/2 teaspoons per gallon. but didn't say where to start or if one could use it on young parts.

35%=350,000 ppm 3.5%=35,000ppm (as used by Boily successfully) 0.35%=3,500ppm 0.1875%=1,875ppm (3%@1:16 as used by Geneva on her seeds) 0.035%=350ppm (this is the rate recommended by growth technology for seed starting. 0.0035=35ppm recommended rate for use in hydroponic growth tanks 350,000 divided by 350=1000 so 1 gallon of 35% will make 1000 gallons of 350ppm.
Can't say whats best(if any)just trying to make sure we are all on the same planet when it comes to the maths.

I've watered my house plants 3 times now with 3% Hydrogen Peroxide added to water @ 1 teaspoon per gallon. No stress or other observed symptoms. In the absence of clinical trial data, our best bet is to start at this rate on the first of many test subjects of equal type grown under otherwise identical growing conditions. Then treat the other test subjects at progressively increased rates & frequency until stress symptoms are observed. Untreated check specimens should also be included to illicit both negative & positive effect for observation. With access to a greenhouse, it will be easy to fire up 16-24 plants for observation. Part of why I'm building one.

I have ducted and deducted. Here is where I am comfortable. Have had no failues. Yields emergence within three or four days. Color and contiued growth is very good. Into one quart of water I add: 1 tbs fish and kelp, 1/2oz. Bio Boost and 1oz. of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide.
I file the edges lightly and soak only two hours. The seeds get set at 45 degrees with the high side just under the damp surface. The germination box is at 83 degrees.
I save the remainder to dribble a ring around the plant in the nusery. Some feel that this reduces stress as the searching roots find a little of what they were germinated into.
