Where is the best place to have your drip hoses (A.) on top of your soil (B.)2-3 inches below the soil (C.)4-6 inches below soil.

this is a tough question, I like to see how much water is coming out, I have had drip hoses, and the holes can get HUGE. I would have to vote for 2-3 inches below

if your burying drip hose it needed to be done in early spring before planting was done.
id just lay the soaker on top of the ground in a patten to allow water to drip up and down the length of each side vine ( meeting and turning back again near the main ). easy to do once the plant has grown just be careful walking in betweenn rows of side vines pap

I run all the drip lines right beside the vines, facing down. I find this works best since the water goes down below the vine, never on top when the dirt is mounded on the vine. Mounding dirt on the vine and keeping it soaked is the best way to rot your vines (i know from experience). The roots will go to the water, and less weeds will grow due to the targeted watering. Also, less water will evaporate.

I placed my 1/4" soaker hoses 4-5 inches in the soil and 24" on center, this method which is feed by a 45 gallons drum is working great.
