I'm still on the 20-20-20 and am using a pound a week per. plant. Also f/seaweed twice a week. My question is what are the rest of you using per week? I would like to get a idea from some of you so I will no if I need to change my amounts. My new leaves are soft and light green while the older ones are hard and dark green Thanks for any help.

I have heard that half a pound per week per 100sq. ft is the most you want to use. I am currently using just under half a pound per week with a 250 to 300 sq ft plant. It's always better to under fertilize with water soluables than over fert. Slow and easy wins the race as they say. I don't want to blow up my pumpkin.

Speaking about water soluble - I have a 30% K fertilizer that I want to apply with the daily watering. Water is coming from a barrel so it can be mixed before. How much per gallon would be okay? They only give advice for sqft, that´s too less information. I have Algoflash tomatoe fert. and they say it can be applied anytime you water.

Gordon, it´s called Kalimagnesia (30 K -10 Magn.) and "can be applied throughout the year" (wow, that´s something..). They recommend 2.2lbs/107 sqft. When I water my plants on dry days, I usually need 20 gal per plant. I just want to create a mixture in my barrel that can be used for the rest of the season, everytime I need to water. Thanks for any advice.

I understand what you are trying to do and it's a good
idea but it's hard problem to get a hold off.... as is fertilizing in general... let take your lawn... do you do it twice a year ? 4 times ? how much ? the recommended rate-twice that.. ?
we often just guess and try to figure it out by trail and error.
What i was getting at is if you can get a dry application
rate and period then you can convert it to a wet application
if you know how much you water.
say you applied it 1 a month at 2.2 lbs per 107 sq ft.
if your patch is 1000 sq ft then you would put down
22 lbs once a month.
so that is also how much you would want to add to your
water over a one month period. if you watered a
1000 sq ft patch (or plant) every other day or 15
times a month... then you want to apply 1.467 lbs
every other day ... (22 divided by 15 )

but i don't know if you should apply it once a month
or once a week or once ever 4 months... ?
that's where the trial an error comes in.
many growers use miracle grow and have the same problem
even though they have a application rate. but how much
do you push it because you are growing pumpkins ?
twice as much? twice as often? both ? 4 times as much ?

Thanks a lot Gordon, the trial and error method is in general what the manufacturers leave us with. I saw there was no information for most of the fertilizers sold at professional farmer stores (not like Walmart garden section) concerning WHEN and HOW OFTEN. Information is from 1 lbs for low-consuming plants up to 2.2 for sorts like cabbage, zuchini, cucumber etc, but "throughout the year" is no information at all.
My idea was - since I saw it acts like a spoon of salt in a pot of water - that would be the better way of applying for so many roots appear on top right now that I don´t want to burn using the dry method.
Will try to develop a mixture from what has been said here concerning lbs/sqft. More formulars always welcome...

...forgot to say, I emailed the two biggest fertilizer manufacturers over here and they couldn´t answer concerning these pumpkins...just said "let us know when it´s about the size of a VW beetle, wish you good luck"....(
