Just wondering, today I found a spot in my garden about 10 inches square that is either somking or steaming. My soil temp thermometer indicates its 145 degrees in this spot? What the heck is happening? I have a mixture of cow manure, horse manure and coffe grounds, all about 1 to 2 years old.

When Manure is put in a pile and not turned. You will often more or less preserve some areas of the manure. When it is disturbed you allow oxygen to get to the vital areas and the process starts again.

Two prostitutes standing on a street corner. One asked the other, "Do you smoke after sex?" the other replied, "I don't know. I never looked."

Umm,gee.... Thanks for the responses. They have kept me laughing for a couple of days now. I will have to re-evaluate what to do with the patch and all the manure, even though I cant find any other spots like the one mentioned above. In the meantime, me and the wife have be applying 2 or three hundred pounds of Nicorette Gum to the patch. If that doesn't stop the manure from smoking, nothing will!!
