I have had a feeling that my city water was high in PH. Did some testing and called the city. Come to find out they adjust it to 8.3 to 8.9...... How can I lower the PH level for my spraying water so fungicides and pesticides are the most effective. I have been told to use a buffering agent and lower it to 6.0 ... I have looked on the internet for hours with no luck finding anything labeled as a buffering agent. Can I use products for pool water to lower the PH or will that kill plants. Anyone have an idea, name of a product, etc. The more info the better. Thanks

My well water test at a hair over 8.0 pH. If you have a place called Tractor Supply Co. near you, look for Sterdsol- Milkstone Remover and Acid Rinse. It's 56.33 % Phosphoric acid.If you don't, go to a feedmill that sales dairy products. Most all of them carry stuff that farmers use in the milk house. My stainless steel bulk tank holds 400 gallons of water. If I fill it and add two (2) cups of the Milkstone Remover and Acid Rinse, it drops my water pH to 6.8.I have aswimming pool pump that sucks the water off of the botom of the tank and it re-enters in the top of the tank. You can see pictures in my dairy. This way it's mixed very well before I water my plants.Phosphoric acid is used a lot in California to lower the ph in water for cranberry's.

Finally found the answer. At growersupply.com you can find a product called Indicate 5.... It turns the water pink when the ph is right. This site has a lot of good stuff that one should check out.....

Growler, I checked out the Indicate 5. The price at $29.88 per gallon is out of sight I think. When Milkstone and acid rinse is 6.98 a gallon. You can buy a pool test kit for under $6.00 which I use.
