Good read Doc. There's alot of proof out there in the pumpkin world to what is said in this article. And I am an advocate and in complete support of the message the title of the article conveys.

Thanks Doc for the info, just printed it off. Sounds like the less tilling, plowing, and digging we do the better off our soil will be. very interesting.

That's giving me a little more hope for my new patch. Maybe I shouldn't till it. I'll just build it up instead. Hmmmmmmm...maybe I can grow something worth going to the weigh-off for!

Dwaine, I read the article on my lunch break. I agree 100%. This is building up the soil the way nature did. Only we can speed up the process by adding materials from elsewhere.

Well now if you have your ear to the road you must be aware that there are more and more Humpty Dumpty Patches that have been nuked to fare the well. Some have been so badly ruined that they no longer grow or have moved to new ground to continue growing.

Less than four years ago I was scolded badly by one who now can not grow due to a nuked patch. The specific statement was that the organic or healthy patch guys never end up in the winner's circle.

Four years later he is non-productive period! Four years later we see more and more success in the patches that are sustainable. This will continue to be the pattern as long as the movement to healthier soil conntinues to be used. This does not mean that nuking growers will not arrive at the top again. To win at any cost has proven to be a horrible cost. To win using sustainable practices is a great honor.

It sure pleases me to read your comments. You and I know you can do it. It is no longer an impossible dream.
