I have read many, many of these and since I am a newbie, I am looking for a little "spoonfeeding" if possible. Weather is finally warming up again here and would like to start the feeding schedule. I know alot of you guys fertilize to the max, so what and how often. Liquid or granular or foliar or drip or .... Are you using an injector for fert? I read of someone using a miracle grow hose end sprayer in-line so to speak, or ....

If you don't want to share your particular secrets, maybe some guidance on to the NPK and amounts/timing and whether you change to X at Y date and then again to A at B date. I know alot of it is an art, but looking for someone to teach me the brush strokes and I can develop my own style from there.

dont fertilize to the max! go easy, if your soils jacked you dont need much just a little fish and kelp once a week

I agree, soil prep before the season is most important. Believe it or not, I don't fertilize during the growing season, maybe a little fish and sea weed, but besides that, nothin. Works good in high heat areas too like where I am at. I used to fertilize a lot, but not anymore, much better success the other way. Jimmy

Dont need any fancy programs (especially if your new at this) just keep the plant moist (not water logged) and avoid over fertlizing! If your soil is tip top many growers I know rarely (if ever fertlize), use a little seaweed foilarily once a week and see what happens, study the plant it will "tell you" what it needs, if its pale green maybe a bit of N or some sunshine, if its got lots of yellow spots on its leaves then it's probably to wet try to give the plant a week or so between amendments to study it. Now if your prize of the patch is shrivled up, brown, and only goes 50# you probably listened to Southern and killed it with affection! LAME-O,,, couldnt resist (all those premo seeds wasted), however I realize that by expressing that un-speakable truth I am now a total outcast! Hay at least my puncuation is almost perfect though! Thanks everyone, and keep coming with your techniques. I think I will try to read the tea-leaves so to speak. Amended pretty well before planting but did not dig the big hole. Will watch and learn. Will prolly also do foliar as I can do weaker less frequent and also flush an overdose much quicker if need be. I think Agro-K is a bit over-the-top for me this year but maybe next.
