This seed is classified as a squash, but the fruit it came from was orange. Can anyone explain what happened here? Does it produce all green fruit?

The 1478 Holub has squash in it. It is the 282 Scherber x 615 Cantrell. 615 Cantrell is where the squash genetics come from. It produces a wide range of colors from white to green. The world record 2118 Jutras, 1844 Holub, and 1807 Holub all come from the 1060, but all can throw a white one or one with orange patches. It's a guessing game as to what color you could get.

Its a cross to get squash color from one parent and size from the 2009 wallace parent.I believe 25% of offspring will be squash colored.

WHERE is this seed classified as a squash? Generally speaking, classification 'squash' depends on the appearance of the fruit. The cross of the 1060 Holub 15 has the genetics of producing squash (about 25% of the 1060 seeds will produce plants which can produce squash).
