My daughter is turning 4 this year and we decided to clear abouta half acre and put in a pumpkin patch this year. In addition to the patch, I thought it would be a fun project for her and I to try to grow a couple of giant pumpkins. We won't be breaking any world records, but I just thought this would be a good thing for her and I to do together.

My question - I have to start with seeds as the land has mostly been prepped. Just waiting on some fertilizer. I did an internet search and found Atlantic Giant seeds from Sustainable seed company. Is this a good place to start? Anyone have experience or have a better idea?

I will be doing lots of reading tonight to create my plan. From much reading it sounds like we are already a month behind many of you in starting to grow the big ones. But I figure we still have plenty of time for a first year trial run if we can get going in the next week or two.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Chris

Linus - if you want to help with better seed, I am happy to take it, buy it, whatever. Having said that, this is my first year and I am learning, so don't waste anything too special on me until I get better at this. Reading last night about sanding seeds, professional equipment, issues getting things to germinate - I am not at that stage yet. First year, my goal is to get some seeds in the ground and be able to take my daughter out back to water and watch it grow. Groom it if I need to cut a couple to help make the biggest one grow, etc. I think I need to keep stalking some boards to keep learning before making the jump into all that other stuff people are talking about. Im sure I will get hooked, but I have to start somewhere.

Having said that, if you have quality seed that a newbie can grow and have success with, I would appreciate more than you would know.

Thank you all again for your help.
