I realize this is a long shot, but if anyone has one they might part with, maybe we can work something out.

Hi Doug, I received a few older Gerhardt seeds this year and if interested, I can send the 921.5 if you don't get what you are looking for:
921.5 Gerhardt (923 Gerhardt x 603.5 Muller) - the 923 is the 434 Gerhardt x 603 Muller. 921 was nice deep orange.

Thanks for the offer Luke. I'm pretty sure I have the 921.5 Gerhardt though. It's definitely one to consider for orange.
You might be right Ron LOL. I really like that seed. My personal best of 1041 lbs. was grown off it.
Still hopeful for a 603.5, but not holding my breath.

Doug I know for sure they're still out there but you know the other problem is that you're talking about germinating a 10 year old seed at this point. If you do get hold of one and get it to pop I sure hope you grow a big one and self pollinate it. I just wish I hadn't turned my last one into a necklace last year. Just kidding.

Jim, I hope you didn't make a necklace of it for yourself. I can understand a female that your smitten with, can cause that kind of temporary insanity LOL. I knew you were kidding, as I'm guessing you bleed orange. I would hope to self pollinate the 603.5, if I did get one.

So was this 603 a very sought after seed for orange a while back kind of like the 1059 is now?

I'd be happy with a 669 Muller, which is the 603 Muller x self.
Doug, the last I knew, only 1 person out there has that seed, and I can't remember who to save my life.

The 603.5 was truly lightning in a bottle for orange growers. A random selfed cross of the 845 Nesbitt that got the orange right.

No bites yet. I may just have to give one of my 1161 Rodonis seeds a try, and hope it's one of the orange producers.....otherwise a state record would be O.K. I guess. LOL.
