I am very new to this. How do I get started growing a huge pumpkin?

1) Read this (this article contains heaps of great info to make you aware of various things you might wish to consider in your first year):

http://how2growags.blogspot.de/p/beginners-guide-to-growing-giant_892.html#What%20do%20I%20need%20to%20grow%20a%20Giant%20Pumpkin|outline

2) Ask Fred for seeds (you will find his seed offer right next under your entry on the message board in the seed exchange section).

Good seeds with good genetics, soil, have soil tested, sun, luck. Finding someone who grows so you can visit there patch.

start now by preparing your growing area for next year make sure you get all day sun and have a large enough area depending on how many plants you will have do not over-whelm yourself by trying to grow too many plants, plan on adding cow manure and shredded leaves maple is preferred get a soil test done as well, ask for seeds plenty of helpful folks out here, read up and get ready. find a local club if possible to join.
i will have seeds available in a few weeks if you are interested?
