bossen, the 1092 Burke has been the easiest, fastest, germinating seed I've ever had. All that I do is file the sides, soak it in warm water for ~24hrs, put in warm planting medium, pray I don't kill it.

Ive heard if you freeze seed for 3 days then germ you will get a higher % to germ.They actually did this with several seeds to draw this conclusion.I have some old Lioyds & Checkons & such free if you want

BOSSEN: good advice from heatstroke, that is the traditional method. I am trying something different which is why I want old seeds for testing.

I keep my seeds in a small frig in my shop ( I put in the littel moisture asborbing packs). I think that in 3 years I've only had one seed to fail to germinate. I've frozen other seeds varieties over the years and have a mixed opinion about that.

Last year I had a seed that wouldn't pop. so I soaked it in two rooting hormone products I got at a hydroponics store. I got a 1in tap root in 9 hrs. I'm trying to figure out wether that was a fluke or I hit on something different worth continueing. I figure old seeds with questionable viability will tell me more than new seeds
