HI,im looking to find a seed from a 800 lb + pumpkin that was very orange and had a nice round shape.If ANYONE HAS ONE THERE WILLING TO PART WITH OR THE NAME OF A GOOD SEED THAT I CAN LOOK FOR THAT HAS THIS COLOR AND SHAPE PLEASE LET ME KNOW..THANKS BOB...woodsandwaters71@sbcglobal.net

Why do you need the weight to be 800+ lbs.? 772 Poirier, 670 Daigle, 603 Muller, 500 Northrup, 364 Webster.....well you get the picture. Genetics trumps weight every time.

I agree with Andy. You HAVE to look at the genetics. Any of the ones he mention are super orange and what I consider to be reliable orange pumpkins. If you will only accept 800+ then you are cutting out a lot of great genetics. The 856Harnica is a good 800lb+ pumpkin that fits your requirement. The 856 is a 772Poirer x 670Daigle. Also my 1024.5 Tootle is another nice orange with a 670Daigle as it's grandparents. As far as the round shape, 1059 or 993 Vincent will probably be your best bet but genetics doesn't guarantee that the offspring will be round. I have heard that the 1880 Silvers was a nice round orange but I never saw it. ;-)

Hey Bob, I'd shoot Jim (orangeneck on BP.com) and email. He has seeds that will produce dark orange and have a good shot at 1000lbs. All his crosses are 603Muller- which in my opinion consistantly produces the nicest AGs grown.

The 218 Sandercock has won 3 H.D. awards in 2 years. I've grown it the last 3 years with 3 pumpkins per plant averaging 1500 lbs. per plant over this time. It's always been a healthy,vigorous, disease-free plant each year. It's the 689 Sandercock x 670 Daigle. It has weighed heavy at least 6 different times,that is every time it has been weighed. If they weren't so damn good looking,one of these years I might let just one grow on the plant!
