Sixteen more nights for Hope to keep inching along until she gets harvested for Hard Rock. The other two pumpkins in the background are getting big too! Fordzilla, my 2177 fruit at the far end of the greenhouse, keeps surprising me with gains that have her creeping ever closer to Hope! In fact, I think 'Zilla will pass Hope in the OTT race before Hope is harvested. I'm considering making a second trip to California with Fordzilla to Half Moon Bay. Making that drive twice sounds mind numbing. That would leave thirty one more days for 'Zilla to fatten up. You never know when they will slow down to a crawl, but she seems to have quite a bit more growing to do. The fruit in the middle is growing on my 2301 Pugh plant. Between day 80-90 it put on 140 pounds. It is starting to develop skin cracks as the pumpkin continues to grow after its skin has stopped growing. I doubt that it will make it to 2000 pounds, but if it goes a little bit heavy, you never know! It will most likely go to Bauman's on October 4th. The finish line is in sight. But there is still time for bad things to happen. Isn't this fun?
