I have been suspicious of the stump (basal crown) of Marylou (839 Sandercock x self) as it was not green and compact but tan in color and quite large. It first developed a soft spot but then started leaking. After cutting in and examining, I chose a stumpextomy opposed to trying to open and save it. There will be a roof over this and has been sulfur dusted.
