This is the result of transplanting a couple of germinated seeds into a barn swallow next filled with soil. The weave of the nest along with the dried droppings in the nest proved to be to much for the plant roots to penetrate. Also, the soil inside the nest retained far more moisture than the soil outside and underneath it. So, though the plants were both green and the first two leaves seemed to be normal, the root system was to wet and not very substantial. All considered, I probably wouldn't plant pumpkins in a swallows nest.
