Day 40 Pumpkin Covering (F: 2287 Sadiq ’22 x M: 2365 Wolf ’21 (from Ron Wallace))
There is a fan at the stem end and also the large box fan seen here at the blossom end. The extra-large white sheet is pinned down at the stem side and also along the sides to the mill fabric and then to the box fan. This essentially traps the air being added allowing the sheet the balloon up and over the pumpkin ensuring continual and even air circulation. Adjustments can easily be made as the pumpkin grows to ensure nothing is being restricted. This offers the benefit of air movement and also shade on the pumpkin itself.
This does make the pumpkin look bigger than it actually is, but remember pumpkins always look bigger in someone else’s patch anyway😉
Since the fan is set back from the pumpkin it also makes quick pumpkin inspections easy.
