I transplanted a backup 179 crews watermelon beside the 224. I'll keep the 224 if it shapes up. The problem was dry soil. I was surprised how little moisture was in the soil when I made the transplant. Combine that with the root pruning during transplant and it never had a chance during the warm days we had. I think its chances are good now that it has some water.
