Anyone have any helpful tips here? I am attempting to germinate 28 year old seeds from my grandfathers 561 lb pumpkin. The first two swelled and broke open the seed coat but never popped a root. I’ve got 6 more to try.

2097 Kisamore ‘24 DMG (2365 Wolf x 2447.1 Cutrupi) Sadly this pumpkin went down to a pinhole in a rib a few days ago at Dap 53. She was well on her way to being something very special. It averaged over 50 pounds a day for a month. This was truly a silver bullet seed and I believe the seeds from this fruit will be important in advancing the size of future pumpkins. Losing one over 2000 is never easy, growing giant pumpkins never is.

Well when it rains, it pours. Lost my last big one to a split. In a matter of a week I went from two pumpkins I was sure would be 2500+ to no pumpkins at all. She was still doing 30+ pounds per day. Between days 20-50 she did 1511 pounds on the scale. It’s a cruel hobby. 2113 Kisamore ‘24 DMG (2447.1 Cutrupi x 872 Kisamore) 11% heavy. This plant was the pollinator on my 2097 so I am very excited for those seeds.

Got lucky and brought home some hardware at the Wild and Wonderful weigh off. A great event, I highly recommend. Squash weighed 868 and was a 782 Vanhueklom, pollinated with 2365 Wolf
